Celebrate Father’s Day with a journey built for good company, rural scenery, and just a little bit of swagger.

The Fox Lake Limited departs from Pleasant Lake, Indiana for an approximately 3-hour round-trip excursion into southern Michigan, offering a relaxed, family-friendly experience of vintage railroading.

Whether you’re riding with Dad, bringing the kids, or carving out a little time for yourself, this is a trip designed to be enjoyed without rushing the day.

In a rare pairing of historic power, the train will be led by the legendary Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive No. 765 in one direction, with the equally storied Nickel Plate diesel No. 358 taking the lead on the return. It’s a chance to experience two eras of railroading in a single trip — steam’s thunder and diesel’s rhythm, each with its own special character.

For those looking to elevate the experience, a dedicated cigar car will be available (for guests ages 21-and-up) offering a rolling lounge tailored for those who prefer their railroading with a slower pace and a good smoke in hand. Treat your husband, treat yourself, or treat the father figure in your life!

Along the way, passengers will enjoy open vestibules, access to our open-air car, and uninterrupted views of the countryside as the railroad winds its way north toward Montgomery and back. Before heading back, the train will operate a photo runby in Montgomery, so you can get the sights and sounds of your Father’s Day train recorded.

THE OFFERINGS

Deluxe Coach, Open Window, First Class, and Pullman Class tickets are available for this excursion.

New in first class this year will be New York Central observation lounge car No. 48, featuring table seating for four guests each, and exclusive seating in the round observation end. An executive chef will prepare a light menu aboard both the 48 and our Pullman car Kitchi Gammi Club while en-route.

Children three years of age and younger who do not occupy a seat ride free. We do not count children under the age of three towards seat counts at tables, so guests will be responsible for ensuring there is appropriate lap space and room for their infants.

All tickets are individually priced unless specifically referenced or otherwise marked as Couples, Table, etc. ADA-specific seats are available in Deluxe Coach only.

Select First Class tickets include complimentary coffee, light refreshments, and a continental breakfast. Additional amenities are included where listed. A cash bar is available for responsible guests 21 or older.

Passengers may bring their own personal food and non-alcoholic drinks. Pets are not permitted, but service animals are welcome.

Tickets are automatically emailed to passengers upon checkout and are not sent via any other means. Guests are advised to double-check their email address for accuracy before completing their purchase and to check their spam or junk mail folder if they don’t see the confirmation email.

Parking, boarding, and safety information is included with every purchase confirmation. Your review of this information is essential to ensuring an enjoyable experience.

Passengers wishing to travel together should book their tickets as part of the same reservation and under the same name. Refunds or exchanges are only available 30 days or more before travel. In place of refunds, credits for future travel and experiences are offered. Due to their historic nature, only select cars are ADA accessible.
