EDON, OH — The Indiana Northeastern Railroad, in partnership with the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and the Indiana Rail Experience, is delighted to announce that the Ice Cream Train will be rolling into Edon for Edon Days 2025.
On Friday, August 8, 2025, festival-goers are invited to climb aboard a family-friendly train filled with complimentary ice cream from Edon Dairy Treat and Kuster’s Dairy Food.
With departures at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, each 1-hour round-trip is timed to coincide with other Friday night activities during the annual summer festival. Child, adult, and festival tickets will be available for purchase at https://www.indianarailexperience.org/edon-days/ on July 17th at 6:00 PM. Children three and under ride free, and ADA seating is available.
“While Edon has hosted major steam-powered excursion trains and last year’s Cameron Christmas Train, the Ice Cream Train is the first scheduled event to be in the community in decades, and we’re happy to give locals their first opportunity to enjoy a train ride in their backyard,” stated Andrew Hershman, Marketing Manager for the Indiana Northeastern. “These heritage trains bring a lot of activity and excitement to our local town, and we’ve been eager to bring Edon further into the mix.”
Edon’s railroad heritage stretches back to 1892 when the Wabash Railroad linked it to the country’s national railway network, and its depot, which survives today in Walz Park, was described then as one of the “nicest depots in the country.”
Today, the railroad line is owned by the Indiana Northeastern Railroad, a short line freight railroad serving Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Its collaboration with the Fort Wayne Railroad has welcomed over 50,000 visitors to the region since 2022.
